LIBERATORS DEFY MONSOON TO ATTACK JAPANESE TARGETS./ R.A.F. Liberators of Air Command South East Asia recently flew/ over 2,000 miles to attack Japanese targets. Some of the bomber/ crews flew for seventeen hours in the teeth of the worst weather/ the Indian Ocean Monsoon has produced this year./ Picture shows:- A dense cloud of smoke rising from 10.000 ton./ Japanese tanker during an attack of R.A.F. Liberators 300/ miles South of Bangkok near Ko Samoi Island on the South East/ of the Kra Isthmus. The tanker, which was over 400 feet long,/ was the largest vessel which had been sighted in Siamese/ waters for many months, and was trying to make a Northward run/ through the gulf of Siam. One Liberator with an all-Canadian/ crew flew in to the attack at 150 feet and struck the tanker/ amidships. Fire and smoke were followed by two explosions and/ then dense black smoke.
